Class One: Strategic Volunteer Recruitment
During this two-hour master class, participants will learn to assess school needs and identify target volunteers best equipped to address those needs. Participants will practice writing effective volunteer opportunity postings and adapt postings to attract their preferred target audience. The course is ideal for anyone responsible for recruiting volunteers including PTA leaders, community and partner engagement personnel, volunteer administrators, campus volunteer coordinators, and volunteer leaders.
By attending this workshop, you can expect to:

  • Understand how to identify the right volunteers for your needs
  • Learn the components of an effective recruitment message
  • Improve skills in targeting volunteer recruitment messages to attract the right volunteers
  • Build techniques to customize your message for your preferred volunteers

Class Two: Preventing Volunteer Burnout
Schools rely on volunteers to help achieve their mission and provide much-needed staff support. Yet, it can be challenging to find and keep the right volunteers for some of your most vital volunteer needs.
Preventing Volunteer Burnout is a two-hour master class where participants will learn how to recognize the causes and impacts of volunteer burnout. You will also learn how to evaluate your current volunteer program and gain valuable skills to avoid burnout and help give volunteers a sense of purpose.
By attending this workshop, you can expect to:

  • Understand the factors that drive volunteer burnout
  • Learn how to help avoid or deal with burnout in volunteers
  • Recognize the importance of informing volunteers of the impact of their work
  • Establish a specific plan to build volunteer commitment and retention at your school
