Title: Marketing Communications Associate

Schedule: Fulltime

The Marketing Communications Associate will serve as the primary content creator and coordinator for all internal and external communications, with the supervision of the Senior Manager of Marketing Communications.  This position will also assist the Chief Development Officer on an as-needed basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft news releases, social media copy, newsletters, promotional emails and other content needs
  • Collaborate with internal departments to create and maintain collateral (print and digital)
  • Maintain agency communications calendar
  • Supervise execution of deliverables such as event invitations, email graphics, etc.
  • Database management (MailChimp and Salesforce)
  • Maintain brand standards for all departments and content
  • Implement marketing communications plan
  • Maintain VolunteerNow website visuals and copy
  • Serve as liaison to outside vendors and contractors to meet production timelines
  • Work with all internal departments to promote programs and support agency needs
  • Support public relations efforts
  • Prepare board presentations and board minutes
  • Assist in composition of fundraising letters and materials
  • Coordinate production of solicitation and stewardship communications
  • Assist with managing donor database, including adding and updating donor profiles, transactions and interactions
  • Periodically help with routine office duties, such as phone answering and mail
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing public relations or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Up to 1-2 years of PR/marketing/journalism experience
  • Strong storytelling ability across all platforms
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills


  • AP style
  • Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator)
  • Social media platforms
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple, overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities
  • A disciplined self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision
  • Good public contact skills and phone etiquette
  • Proficiency using personal computers and standard office equipment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Preferred: Database management such as MailChimp, Salesforce (preferred) or Raiser’s Edge
  • Preferred: Video production and editing experience


  • Able to work flexible hours as requested and travel locally as needed
  • Able to assist with events by standing, walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds
