About VeriFYI
Since its inception in 1994 as a service of VolunteerNow, more than 1 million background checks have been performed, with more than 300 million individual records searched. VeriFYI provides more than 320 nonprofits with this low-cost method of gathering all the critical information when screening volunteers or prospective employees.
What gives VeriFYI the edge
Did you know that in 1995, the Texas State Legislature passed a law granting volunteer centers (like us) complete access to comprehensive arrest and conviction records, including juvenile records, of those who deal with vulnerable clients? Texas volunteer centers are the only institutions, outside of municipal governments and school districts, with access to the state’s Department of Public Safety records.

Our Most Valuable Package for $11.95 includes:
Multi-jurisdictional Records: Most state records show offenses and convictions committed in certain states. Information is taken from the Department of Corrections Records, Sexual Offense Records, Department of Public Safety Records, Bureau of Investigations records or Administrator of the Courts records where applicable. At the present time 42 states offer access to Multi-jurisdictional Records; some states do not report (Colorado, Hawaii, Louisiana, Massachusetts, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming).
National Database Search of Sex Offender Records: This scans databases from around the country to find any record of arrest, convictions or sexual offenses against adults, children and certain sexual contact and other crimes against victims who are minors. Sex Offender Records are available from ALL 50 States and Washington, D.C.
Social Security Trace: This report helps to ensure that the person being checked is, in fact, who they say they are by confirming the Social Security Number and giving historical information on past residences.
Texas State Records: This typically includes all prior arrests and convictions, including adjudicated records, juvenile offenses and outstanding warrants committed in Texas. Information is reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and available to all Texas Volunteer Centers by law.
