About VeriFYI

 Since its inception in 1994 as a service of VolunteerNow, more than 1 million background checks have been performed, with more than 300 million individual records searched. VeriFYI provides more than 600 nonprofits with this low-cost method of gathering all the critical information when screening volunteers or prospective employees.

What gives VeriFYI the edge

Did you know that in 1995, the Texas State Legislature passed a law granting volunteer centers (like us) complete access to comprehensive arrest and conviction records, including juvenile records, of those who deal with vulnerable clients? Texas volunteer centers are the only institutions, outside of municipal governments and school districts, with access to the state’s Department of Public Safety records.
